When a person dies in a publicly broadcasted news item relayed on national television it is seldom that after his demise his soul is laid to rest in peace. In todays day and age of aggressive mass media, cut-throat fight to deliver the best, hot selling (dont care about true) news, new ways of getting your content delivered to the public helps a lot. The best example is Blogs. Technology may have changed but ethics have gone down-hill. Its just become as easy as type and push and you have your piece of written bit available to the public eye in a matter of microseconds. Talking about ethics, a recent shocking and ethically appalling news came into light recently.
The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and 4 other crew members including a Pilot and Co-pilot were killed when the helicopter carrying them from Hyderabad to Chittoor crashed in bad weather in Nallamalla forests in Kurnool district on Wednesday (2nd September) morning. The charred bodies and the wreckage of the chopper were found the next morning after a massive search operation. There were several questions raised after this tragedy. Like,

Why did the Chopper take off in bad weather?

Was the Helicopter airworthy?</li?

Why did the Emergency Locator Transmitter(ELT) not get activated upon crash?

Why is the communication framework in India still so poor that many parts of our country are inaccessible and have no means of communication

But probably the most bizarre and shocking question raised by a journalist put serious question on the credibility of Journalism and Journalism ethics. Vikram Sharma of expressbuzz.com (Part of Indian Express group) has written a blog entry asking if the Pilot was in a peaceful mental condition. Baseless and written in poor taste this article raises a finger on a highly qualified Pilot who has served in the Indian Air Force for 25years. He has commanded a squadron under high pressure situations and has over 7000hours of flying experience under his belt. The 2nd of September was just an unlucky day for him and others on board. Its a risky job and daredevils like Gp Capt. SK Bhatia face this challenge everyday as a routine. Writing such thoughtless and surreal articles without having concrete proof and accusing such a great personality is something the Journalist and his organization should be ashamed of. Have some compassion for what the families of the departed are going through. I do not say, burry the matter. Enquire, ask questions , demand to know the truth – but do all this before pointing fingers and accusing a professional of amateurism. Forcing his Son to come and defend his father is not something the Indian Express should be responsible for. Have some sanctity for the departed and not cloud his character by cheap publicity.

I have been using the cross platform multi-protocol open source IM ,Gaim
for over 6 months now. It served every bit of my purpose and I was really satisfied with it. Very low on memory great supprt for protocols (though files transfers are little buggy , but who uses yahoo to transfer files heh ? ). The only problem was the drab GTK+ environment. I did a google search for some themes and i hit this website where i downloaded a utility called gtk2 themes and theme switcher. And also with gaim plugin pack (it has almost every plugin you need) i confugured gaim now to be pretty ! So now I have the best IM .
Here are some screenshots :

I cant stop saying enough of this; why waste somthing that has so much potential? I am reffering to the social networking website affiliated to Google – Orkut. So recently i mentioned that some visible changes were seen on Orkut, well some of them were better but it has also resluted in a few bugs. They have used more of AJAX and improved the server so you dont see the “No Donut for you” message anymore. But a lot of other bugs have popped up. Like the Messaging System, which was never up to the mark, has now degraded. Multiple messages cannot me either marked read or deleted. And once you click on a message to read it, it automatically doest not get marked as read. So every time you have to manually select read messages and mark them as read. The main page has been shrunk and link displaying number of craps has been pushed up in the top line. The scrapping system has alwyas been complicated to users. Most of them dont know how to scrap others. Once you receive a scrap from someone, you have to first visit his profle , click on Scraps and then scrap him. The use of AJAX can be well implemented here and easier way to scrap the sender should be employed. New scraps can only be veiwed on refreshing the browser. Real time updating of scrpas would be really awesome and would give it an edge over every other contemporary website of its kind. Another bug noticed my my friend is the empty professional teb under the users profile. If you dont fill up the details in the Professional area, and just enter stuff in the Personal tab, the tab does appear but has no content. After the recent update(if you call it so .. ) the search for friends has also stopped working. The timestamps in the scraps are almost 12 hours ahead.Scraps can also not be edited. So you either delete the whole thing and type it again or jus let it be. I sincirely hope that the Guys from Google read this and improve upon Orkut. Its soon doomed to become the black sheep of the Google family.

Social networking. This word has become a craze in the past 5 years. Numerous numbers of small groups and websites have sprung up wherein you can either meet up old long lost friends or jus simply make new friends. Two popular names come to my mind in this context . The first is hi5.com; an open social networking website and so called “easy to use”. The other one is the hugely popular orkut owned by the internet giants Google.

Now what makes one better than the other. In this world of fierce competition and choices an individual has the option , rather right to go for the best ! So lets begin my comparing the two in five broad categories.

a.)Interface
The first impression of a website and the one quality that appeals to you is the interface of the website. Orkut has the typical Google interface of being clean, simple, yet elegant. On the other hand, hi5 has one of the worst interfaces of the numerous social websites on the internet. It is filled with Advertisements and instead of clicking of you friends profile you may go to a site that is promoting another website! orkut cleanly arranges your option on the left and pages on the header with your profile in the middle. The spacing and fonts perfectly gels with the soothing blue background. Its is not flashy unlike its counterpart and yet the the tiny little icons add brightness to the site. Also the interface of hi5 changed too often so half the time you are engaged in the quest to hunt for options and links.

b.)Features
Now being pretty is not everything. You got to have the meat! Well behind orkut’s simplistic interface are features that puts hi5 to shame. In its core is a well arranged profile with catchy fields and relevant information that one would like to read. hi5 has a poorly arranged profile with tacky fonts. Of course you can change the background and personalize your profile in hi5 , only to make it look ghoulish! orkut also has a few unique features that expands its flexibility and makes it user friendly. Here are a few :

The Search: orkut has one of the best search(maybe inspired by owner Google ) .You have the option of searching of people with specific interests, location, age, sexual orientation, gender ,keyword and what not more !

The Communities : the communities which are displayed at the bottom right of every profile lets you know a little more about the individuals interests.

The Scrapbook : aah! the famous scrapbook! this is the most convenient messaging system ever to be created. Scrap whatever you feel like – maybe a comment about the persons profile or inviting him or her to be your friend. Of course Personal Messaging is also there , thus maintaining privacy. A person’s “scraps” can be used to judge how popular he/she is.

In response to hi5′s “fives” orkut has other way of rating your friends which is more practical. The three basic karma qualities are “trusty”, how trustworthy the person is, “hot” , how good looking and attractive the person is , and “cool” , how fun loving and nice the individual is .
Apart form these you can either add a person to your “crush list ” , “hot list” or be his fan.
And if another person also ads you to his/her “crush list” each of of get an individual e-mail notifying you of the person. How cool is that huh ? You can also add a person to your bookmarks for future reference. You can also report a disturbing profile by clicking the “report as bogus” button thereby warning orkut about it. Wait that’s not all ! You can also send the person “teasers”. Choose from a list of cool lines under various categories such as romantic, humorous or sincere or if you are creative make your own and send it to the person.

c.)Speed and reliability
Apart from features and interface you need a stable and reliable server so that you can use the features ; and i think the name Google will tell you a lot. With a lightening fast and stable server surfing orkut is a breeze. On hi5, you can barely logon, forget navigating!

Here are the loading speeds on Firefox:

orkut : 5 sec
Hi5 : 21 sec ( and still counting ….)

Here are the loading speeds on Opera:

orkut: 4 sec
Hi5 : 12 sec (few ads still not loaded .. )

d.)Browser Compatibility :
orkut has a known issue with the scrapbook. The submit, preview and formatting buttons come within the writing space when used with Opera.
hi5 too has its share of compatibility issues with Opera and thus they are pretty much equal in this field. Although orkut is still in its beta stages and development is still on. So hopefully it may improve!

e.)Final Words
Well every site does have its negative parts and so does orkut. The album doesn’t have the option to add comments ( it is one of the known issues orkut is working on) as compared to hi5.
The server sometimes does return error messages but they are catchy enough to forgive! . But remember orkut is still in its beta stages and there is a lot of improvement due. hi5 is in its final version is like a stagnant pool of sewage!

My name is Aman Yajurvedi and I am a proud user of orkut ! cheers !

After about 4 months of playing this game i am finally completed it ..( i left it in between for 1 1/2 months so technically 2 1/2 months ..)
I am the most wanted racer in rockport city !
I may not be an ace at the game but i have learnt a few tricks from playing.A lovely guide can be found at Evading the Police

You ll find most of the tricks at this place but here is a few from my side .

1.) After beating blacklist #6 ,Ming , be sure to opt for bonuns markers as there is high pronanility that you will get his car , Lambhoghini Gallarado. The ride has been tweaked up to the max with all parts on ultimate. Its one of the best cars.

2.)Speaking of cars , my advice is always have 3 cars in your Safe House as each car has it speciefic use.

Lambhoghini Gallarado/Murcielago ( Muricelago is damn expensive but is awesome !) for races .

>>Astom Martin DB 5 for persuits

>>Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR : is has a lovely acceleration !

>>Ford GT : He is the dhoni of all cars ! good top speed and handling makes it a pricessless car.

These cars are the best and there no stopping if you have these in your Safe house.
3.)Always sell off your parts before selling the car on the whole. The price of car dosent change even after being stripped.
4.)The performance tune up is a must after installing your upgrades. Increase turbo/supercharger to the max. Decrese nitrous by one level( so thet u dont use too much ! in franctic situations you tend to keep pressing it ..)
Increase ride height and aerodynamis up by 3 levels.Decrease steering by one level.

5.)Try using nitrous in short burst insted of pressing it for a long time.It not only conserves the resource but is also more effective.

The ending : Final Persuit

Welcome to the Grand Finale, the final chase. Through a massive plot twist,
you have slipped through Sgt. Cross’s fingers as the most wanted man in
Rockport, and he’s hacked. Every police car from here to Canada is in on the
chase, Heavy Rhinos, the Helicopter, and Undercover Corvette C6s. There will
be Roadblocks, Spike Strips, and Rhinos around every corner, the Helicopter
will dive on your car, and even worse: there is no EVADE, no matter how far
away you get from the cops, there’s no escape. How will you get away?

For the first five minutes all you can do is ride it out, the police will
throw everything but the kitchen sink at you to bring you down. The most
important thing you need to know for this chase is that you CANNOT STOP OR
CRASH. You will have Corvettes and Rhinos on your tail at all times, enough
to encase you in a tomb of steel should you crash or stop, making it nearly
impossible to escape. Just keep moving and use the tactics you learned in
previous pursuits when dealing with Spike Strips and Roadblocks.

If you survive the five minutes, you’ll get a call from Mia telling you there
are no safe places in Rockport, and the only way to escape is to flee the city
via the Old Bridge. At this point, you’ll see a purple point appear on the
GPS. You cannot lock this point to get an arrow, so you have to find it the
old fashioned way. The Old Bridge is on the extreme West of the map, near the
baseball stadium. All you have to do is get to the west of the map, then
either go North or South depending on where the point is relative to your car.
Once you see the point, which sits next to the only road that goes west when
on that side of the map, turn down it, and hit the nitrous. Once you get to
the break in the bridge, the game takes over, and you execute a spectacular
jump over the broken bridge to freedom. Congraturation, you are the winner .
